Shampooing robot gives ultimate head massage

14 hrs.

Move aside scary robot barber, there?s a new machine in the salon that?ll put humans in a sudsy heaven as it shampoos heads with 24 finger-like tips.

Panasonic?s Head Care Robot has sensors in each finger that measure your head, allowing it to?customize the shampooing experience for your particular noggin shape.

The experience gets underway with a spritz of hot water and pre-lathered shampoo, which is said to limit the amount of suds needed to wash the entire head and reduce chafing.

Conditioner is sprayed on as a mist for uniform coverage. A special nozzle enables washing long hair as well as short, ensuring there?s no discrimination against hairstyles.

And, as if getting your head washed from a 24-fingered robot wasn?t relaxing, the final stage of the shampoo comes with a robo-massage as the machine blow dries your hair.

?This is extremely relaxing and offers a degree of comfort that users cannot experience with human hands,? Panasonic explains in the promotional video below.

To give the Head Care Robot a try, hop the next flight to Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, where it is getting a trail run at Super Hair Seo in Nishinomiya until early June.

Once the trial is over, the company aims to commercialize the technology for the care of handicapped and elderly people. If you?re lucky, you?re local hair salon might invest in one too.
